Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case: SC set aside Patna HC order of blanket ban on the reporting by media

Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case: SC to monitor now

The Supreme Court directs the Bihar Income Tax department to probe against the prime accused Brajesh Thakur and his NGO, in Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case.

Supreme Court vacates Patna HC order which had imposed a blanket ban on reporting on the Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case. Court clarifies that there can’t be a blanket ban but says media needs to be cautious and diligent while reporting.

The apex court has also asked to find out the details of the asset and expenditure of the state government grant of 4.5 crores in the last 10 years.

The SC also decides to monitor the case and asked the High Court to defer its hearing. It has also asked the CBI to file a status report within four weeks. Earlier the Patna High Court was monitoring the case.
