National Cricket League 2023: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has commenced operations for the twenty-fourth iteration of the National Cricket League on October 12. Eight teams representing the seven regional divisions and one team representing the Dhaka Metropolitan area are participating.
The competition features eight competing divisions: Sylhet Division, Barisal Division, Chattogram Division, Dhaka Division, Dhaka Metropolis, Khulna Division, Rajshahi Division, and Rangpur Division.
Seven times, Khulna Division has been the recipient of the prestigious silverware, which is a record number of championships. The title was shared by Dhaka Division and Rajshahi Division on six occasions each. Rangpur Division has captured the championship twice, whereas Chottagram Division has only done so once.
Rangpur Division, which amassed the most points in the previous edition (38), will join this competition as the defending champions. Due to their inadequate performance, Chattogram Division, Barisal Division, Khulna Division, and Rajshahi Division were demoted to tier 2.
In the previous edition, Zakir Hasan of the Sylhet Division dominated the batting charts with 442 runs scored. Bowling records were surpassed by Sumon Khan of the Dhaka Division, who amassed 33 wickets with the ball.
The campaign is being hosted at nine different venues, including Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Dhaka, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.
The remaining venues include Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi, Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium G2, Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium (SKICS) in Coxs Bazar, Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna, Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, and Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Stadium in Bogra.
