National Lauren Day 2023 (US): Facts, Dates and History

National Lauren Day 2023: National Lauren Day is annually observed on June 28. The name is of French origin and is typically given to infants of either gender. The significance of the appellation is somewhat obscure. It has been interpreted as ‘intelligence’ or as a reference to the laurel plant. It is derived from the French name Laurence, which derives from the Roman surname Laurentius, which derives from the ancient Italian city Laurentum. Lauren is also a possible familial name. Although it is a traditionally masculine name, it began to acquire popularity when the actress Lauren Bacall was given the moniker.

HISTORY OF NATIONAL LAUREN DAY

Lauren is a French name that is typically given to infants of either gender. Although it is a traditionally masculine name, it began gaining prominence when it was associated with the actress Lauren Bacall.

Bacall was born Betty Joan Perske in 1924, and she went on to become an incredibly popular Hollywood actor during the Golden Age. Her initial rise to prominence was due to her beauty and husky voice. Bacall began her career as a model before making her film début at age 19 opposite Humphrey Bogart in “To Have and Have Not.” Bacall starred in a number of films throughout her lengthy career, including “How to Marry a Millionaire,” “Key Largo,” “Written on the Wind,” “Harper,” and “The Shootist.” She also starred in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals “Applause” and “Woman of the Year.”

Bacall garnered appreciation, recognition, and love from an entirely different generation of viewers during the latter years of her career, due to her phenomenal acting in “Misery,” “Dogville,” “Howl’s Moving Castle,” and “Ernest & Celestine.” In 2014, Bacall perished of a stroke.
