The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) filed a disqualification petition against Ajit Pawar and eight others who took oath as ministers in the Eknath Shinde-led state government a day after Pawar staged a coup in Maharashtra.
The 1999 Sharad Pawar-founded party experienced a vertical split when his nephew Ajit Pawar defected and joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government as deputy chief minister. Eight additional NCP legislators, including staunch Sharad Pawar supporters Chhagan Bhujbal and Dilip Walse Patil, were appointed ministers.
