Baahubali prequel: After the success of Bahubali: The Beginning and Bahubali: The Conclusion, Netflix along with SS Rajamouli announced a Baahubali prequel to the franchise, Bahubali: Before The Beginning.
The series was to showcase the rise of Bahubali’s mother, Shivagami, and the makers had cast Mrunal Thakur to play the lead with Deva Katta as the director.
Later on, Rahul Bose and Atul Kulkarni came on board to play two more pivotal characters.
Earlier the reports suggested that the makers of Baahubali: Before The Beginning are in talks with Nayanthara to play the lead role.
Later, Mrunal Thakur and Wamiqa Gabbi were roped in to play lead roles. Popular director Deva Katta worked on the film for six months.
The latest report suggests that Netflix has dropped the project entirely. Huge sets were built in Hyderabad for the shoot. Reportedly, the makers spent over Rs 150 crore on the shooting. Since they were not satisfied with the visuals, Netflix decided to shelve the project.
After the news went viral on social media, fans were shocked to know that a huge sum was spent on Baahubali: Before The Beginning only to get shelved later.
