New Mini Cooper Convertible Coming in December 2025: Bookings Now Open

New Mini Cooper Convertible:Mini‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ India is taking pre-launch reservation for the much-anticipated Cooper Convertible. So, in advance of its first appearance scheduled for December 2025, by either hopping onto Mini’s official website or walking into a nearest Mini dealership, one can book the open top driving pleasure.

New Mini Cooper Convertible: Design & Roof Mechanics

What will be the next Mini Convertible is undoubtedly the most electrifying feature of the fold-away roof, the all-electric soft-top roof of the future Mini fold-away roof. Not a single fold away is like this one, as, for instance, in just 18 seconds the fabric roof retracts or extends, and driving at a maximum of 30 km/h, it is also operable. This ability to remove or put on the cover while driving thus makes the experience of driving more impromptu and lovely, especially if one is stuck in the city traffic or on a lovely driving route.

In terms of style, the Convertible is the same Mini with the distinctive rear silhouette. The face has the trademark circular LED headlamps and round daytime running lights, all wrapped around Mini’s large octagonal grille, decked “S” with the character-packed badging. It is rolling on 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels on the sides, with a black body-clad lower part completing the look. The car at the rear trades its hatchback’s triangular tail-lamps for oblong LED units with Union Jack detailing, thus, having a distinct ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌character.

Interior: Tech, Comfort & Connectivity

Step inside the new Mini Convertible, and you’ll find a cabin that’s very familiar yet thoughtfully modern. The dashboard layout mirrors that of the hardtop Mini but with even more flair: a 9.4-inch Android-based OLED touchscreen serves as both infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Mini‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ has taken the step of using sustainable materials in the finishing of the dashboard, showing that it is a green-conscious luxury brand.

Moreover, the Convertible will probably delight its passengers with electrically-adjustable front seats, ambient lighting, a Harman Kardon sound system, automatic climate control, a rearview camera, a heads-up display, and even wireless charging. All these gadgets ensure that the open-top driving experience is not deprived of tech and elegance.

Engine, Transmission, and Driving Dynamics

In fact, the Mini Convertible is Mini Cooper S hatchback’s little brother as it shares its powertrain with the latter. A 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is fitted in the car, which can generate approximate 204 bhp (or about 201 bhp, as per some sources) and 300 Nm of torque. The vehicle moves the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), hence the ride is both smooth and agile. Therefore, the Convertible is capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in about 6.9 seconds, as per the reports.

Notably, to make up for the removal of a fixed roof, Mini has strengthened the structure of the Convertible. That is why its acceleration is only slightly slower than that of the hardtop version.

New Mini Cooper Convertible: Pricing & Market Strategy in India

Mini seems to be placing the Convertible in the Indian market as a luxurious lifestyle product rather than a performance car. Different auto portals have been reporting that the anticipated ex-showroom price in India would be around ₹48-50 lakh. This, therefore, positions the Convertible at a somewhat high-end segment, where it’s not directly competing with mass-market convertibles, but rather, with aspirational, premium lifestyle buyers.

As a result of its scarce availability, the early booking may be of great significance: Mini has only allowed bookings in ten cities up till now. These cities are Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, and ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Kolkata.

Global Roots & Production Details

Mini‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ didn’t reveal the Convertible for the first time only locally. MINI Asia gave a glimpse of the global version of the all-new Mini Cooper Convertible at the Singapore Motorshow 2025, thus, giving the Indian market a fair idea of what to expect. As per MINI’s own announcement, the Convertible is a product of the MINI Plant Oxford, which means the production of the MINI convertible is back at a historic location.

Globally, the model has several trim variants, but in India, the Cooper S version appears to be the one that is ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌available.
