Nigerian women displaced by Boko Haram hold protest

Boko Haram jihadists drove out a thousand of Nigerian women forced from their homes to hold a protest against the authority demanding better conditions as UN Security Council envoys visited their camp.

The demands of the demonstrators were strictly accusing the local authorities and aid agencies of making worse one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. There has been an acute shortage of resources which has pushed Nigeria closer to conditions of famines, which have gone unnoticed by the authorities. They also accused local aid agencies of diverting assistance that should have gone to the 15,000 displaced people living in the Teachers Village camp near the flashpoint city of Maiduguri.

The protest was held parallel to 15 ambassadors from UN’s top decision-making body visited northeastern Nigerian camps on Sunday in order to draw global attention to the emergency affecting 21 million people in the Lake Chad region.
