Kiki challenge was just off the Indian shores that a similar craze, which is even riskier is gripping Kerala’s youth. Kerala is recently hit by another bizarre social media challenge called Nillu Nillu challenge, which involves a group of people jumping in front of a speeding vehicle on the road and dance after the vehicle stops.

In the challenge, a group of people – mostly youngsters – jump in front of moving vehicles or people and then dance to the Nillu Nillu song, carrying for some reason, dried palm leaves in their hands or wearing a helmet. This would be captured on an app as a funny video which would be then spread on social media.

The videos originally began appearing on Tik Tok, a video broadcasting app. It has been since widely posted on other platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp.

Fourteen years ago, when music director Jassie Gift composed the song “Nillu Nillu Nil Ente Neela Kuyile” for the movie ‘Rain Rain Come Again’, he never thought it would go viral even after one-and-a-half decades. With broadcasting app TikTok becoming the latest craze among the youth, they are now dancing to the fast-number song.

Even though till now no major mishaps have been reported, the way the challenge is catching up, it is only a matter of time before it gets out of hand.

Taking note of the viral challenge, the Kerala Police has warned youths in the state not to get carried away and risk the lives of themselves and those driving the vehicles.
