The Central Railways has been facing a new controversy after a video went viral that shows a food stall in the authority preparing lemonade in a most unhygienic manner. The video was shot by commuters at the Kurla station on the Mumbai suburban railway network.

The video has let to the closure of the shop by the authorities on Monday. Earlier this week, commuters have shot a video showing an employee of the food stall taking water from the overhead tank to prepare lemonade. It also showed the worker using bare hands to stir the lemon that is a violation of food safety and hygiene guidelines under FSSAI.

The person who shot the video tagged the Central Railways asking them to look after the matter and responding to the video, railway authorities sealed the food stall at the Kurla station food stall platform 7-8 on Monday after collecting the samples.

An official said that the samples collected from the stall have been sent for bacteriological examination. Also, the stall license holder has to appear for an inquiry committee today.

Central Railways officials said that the health inspectors with the railways have been ordered to inspect the hygiene and quality of food and water being served at the food stalls in railway stations across the city.
