NMMS West Bengal 2023: Every year, the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) test for Class 8 pupils is administered by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE), in order to award scholarships to students from sections with lower economic standing.

West Bengal’s National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship registration is now taking place. On wbsed.gov.in, students can register for the scholarship test. Every year, the Class 8 NMMS test is administered by the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy in order to award scholarships to applicants from economically disadvantaged sectors.

On June 23, 2023, the online application period for the scholarship exam opened. Those who qualify may submit an application before the deadline of July 25, 2023. On December 17, 2023, the test will be given.
The two sessions of the state-level NMMSE will be held online on the same day and will each consist of 90 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) worth 90 points. The exam consists of two 90-minute tests, one of mental aptitude and the other of academic aptitude.

NMMS West Bengal 2023: Eligibility

The government-sponsored NMMS Examination, 2023 for Class 8, is open to students in Class 8 who received 55% or above on their final Class 7 test. Candidates who are from the SC, ST, or who are handicapped receive a 5% relaxation. Parents’ yearly income must be less than Rs 3,50,00,000, and income proof proving this must be supplied.

Students must be enrolled at legitimate government institutions, including madrasahs without residential facilities, government-aided institutions, local government institutions, and government-sponsored institutions. The scholarship is not available to students attending Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, state-run residential institutions, or any private school.

How to apply

  • The ‘New User Register Here’ link should be clicked.
  • A registration number will be produced once you complete the personal information and provide your email address and cellphone number; keep this number for future use.
  • Use your registration number and password to get into your account.
  • Complete the remaining fields, submit your passport-size photo, and then save the form.
  • The format for the Certificate from the Head of the School/Institution (HOI) should be printed out together with the application.
  • The HOI Certificate must be signed with an official seal, and the signer must upload the signed Certificate along with scanned copies of the following documents to their account: (i) the parent’s income certificate; (ii) the first page of their bank passbook; (iii) their caste certificate; and (iv) their disability certificate.
  • The relevant School Authority must properly certify the papers.
  • Following that, click the “Finalise application” button.
