Sai Durga Mounika committed suicide at her home in Dundigal. As per her family, she was depressed due to family issues that led her to take this extreme step. Reportedly, she committed suicide after her mother cautioned her over an extreme use of smartphones and spending time on social media.

Police said Sai Durga was staying at her maternal uncle’s house with her mother and brother in Suraram. Her father left them a decade ago. She had an argument with her mother over a gold chain and a ring on Wednesday afternoon. After that she hanged herself to death when her kins were out. When her family members returned they found her hanging and rushed her to a nearby hospital. But she was declared brought dead.

“According to her family, she was sensitive and often threatened them of committing suicide over petty issues. On Wednesday, her mother questioned her about the gold jewellery, due to which she felt offended and took this extreme step,” said Pavan from Dundigal police station.

“We will recover her mobile phone and verify her social media posts. Based on the evidence, the probe will proceed,” added the SI.
