NPR will not be implemented in Maharashtra like Amit Shah wants: Nawab Malik

The NCP (Nationalist Congress Party), a constituent of the state government, has taken a tough stand against the Center over the issue of implementing NPR in Maharashtra.

Nawab Malik, NCP spokesman and minister in Maharashtra government, said that NPR would not be applicable in Maharashtra as Union Home Minister Amit Shah would like.

Talking to reporters, Nawab Malik said, “On the issue of CAA, NRC and NPR, there are no differences between the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress in power in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena voted in the Lok Sabha in support of CAA for some reasons. , But the Shiv Sena MPs walked out while voting in the Rajya Sabha. This shows the party’s stance.”

Malik said, “NRC will not be applicable in any condition in the state and all the constituent parties are unanimous about this.”

According to Nawab Malik, a meeting of senior leaders of the three parties will be held soon to implement NPR. In that meeting, it will be decided what should be the nature of NPR and what are the questions in it.

There is a demand that the government should pass a resolution in the Assembly against the CAA and NRC on the lines of Bihar, but the three parties have not yet reached an agreement on this issue.
