Diwali Muhurat Trading Time 2025: The National Stock Exchange has now shared the date and time for this year’s special Diwali Muhurat trading. The exchange said it will take place on Tuesday, 21 October 2025. This session happens every year on Diwali day and gives a short 1 hour window where people can buy and sell stocks in a very symbolic way.

The exchange explained that the main trading will open from 1:45 in the afternoon and go till 2:45 pm. Before that, a short pre-opening period will start from 1:30 pm to 1:45 pm. There will also be a block deal time from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm. A special pre-open for IPO shares and relisted stocks will happen from 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm. After the trading ends, a closing session will run from 2:55 pm to 3:05 pm, and people will still have a few minutes until 3:15 pm to change their trades if they want.

Diwali Linked With Prosperity
It is very old tradition in the Indian stock market and happens every Diwali to celebrate the start of a new year on the Hindu calendar. This time it will begin the Vikram Samvat 2082. Many investors believe that trading during this one hour brings good fortune, wealth, and growth for the whole year.
The NSE also said that all trades done in this period will settle in the normal way like other trading days. People can trade across all parts of the market including shares, derivatives, currency, and SLB.

The NSE in its notice wrote, “In continuation to circular No. NSE/CD/65903 dated December 31, 2024, a special live trading session shall be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 on account of Muhurat trading on Diwali as per the following schedule.”
