After the fierce nun went on to continue their protest irrespective of the threats and allegations from the convent and the politicians in the state, the Kerala police has hinted at summoning the bishop for questioning this week.

The Roman Catholic bishop Franco Mulakkal has been accused of rape charges by a nun. A massive protest was led by fellow nuns asking for justice for the victim. According to police, there were a lot of contradictions in the statements given by the nun, witnesses and accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal of Jalandhar diocese and that a decision on further action would be taken after clearing all the doubts.

“The Bishop may be summoned to Kerala for interrogation. The notice to the bishop, urging him to appear before the probe team, was likely to be issued this week itself”, said a senior police officer to PTI.

The Kottayam District Police chief directed the head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be taking the statement of the nun in connection with George’s charges against her.

The nuns who have been protesting have been asked to leave the Church. Though they have clearly refused to leave church even though they have been disowned. The grieving nuns shares, “Now the church itself has disowned us. But we have not left the church. We are fighting while remaining to be a part of the church. We will fight until the victim gets justice”.
