Gajapati: After 29 girls of a government residential school left the hostel on Saturday night a 20-hour search operation has resulted in their rescue.

The girls belonging to the Antaraba residential school, Mohini area, Gajapati district were rescued from a secluded house near Tanglipadar village on Sunday.

“We found the students in an isolated house near Tanglipadar village in Mohana. After rescuing them, we have housed the students in Chandragiri Government School hostel” said District Welfare Officer (DWO) of Kandhamal, Santosh Rath according to a regional news portal.

DWO further adds that an inquiry is underway by police and district administration.

Following the incident, a search operation was put in place to find the girls. Police and officials traced the girls, after successfully tracking one of the students mobile phone.

The girl students had left the hostel alleging lack of coordination at the hands of the teacher. They had also left behind a handwritten letter.
