Odisha: Man murders brother-in-law for objecting 5th marriage

A man, namely Sheikh Bhalu on Saturday in Saidabad area of Bhadrak district thrashed his brother-in-law (Sakam Khan) to death after deceased objected to the Bhalu’s fifth marriage, police told.

According to police, earlier, Bhalu had married four wives and had already divorced all of them. He recently married another woman of the vicinity, however, it created a rift between Bhalu and Khan, brother of Bhalu’s second wife.

Further on Saturday, Bhalu attacked the Khan with a sharp-edged weapon and thrashed him to death and later, Bhalu took the body inside the house of Khan and set it on fire along with two auto-rickshaws. After receiving information from villagers, police arrested Bhalu from Bhadrak.

The horrific episode has created a tension in the village and following that police deployed a platoon of personnel to maintain law and order in the area.
