It has been the hot topic of discussion in several Bollywood circles that Taapsee Pannu was dropped unceremoniously from the remake of the hit film Pati, Patni Aur Woh. Taapsee, has said this on record that she was disappointed with the unprofessionalism shown by the team of the remake and that she was hurt by it.
Now according to sources close to the project, it seems that it was at the behest of the lead actor, Kartik Aaryan that Taapsee was replaced by Ananya Panday. Kartik suggested to director Mudassar Aziz that Ananya was the next big thing in Bollywood after her debut in ‘Student Of The Year 2’ and hence it would do work well in the film’s favour if she was to play his wife. A source to the actor says that if Kartik indeed had anything to do with Taapsee’s ouster, it is indeed very sad because both Taapsee and Kartik have made it on their own in Bollywood and battled nepotism. Kartik, who has made it on his own has probably forgotten that Taapsee, too has made it on her and has several films to credit. Be it Mulk, Pink, Badlaa and now the recently released Game Over, which is also receiving rave reviews from everyone.
Pati, Patni Aur Woh was an classic adult comedy starring Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta, who played his secretary. It was directed by B R Chopra and was a huge hit. Over the year it acquired a cult status, which is what prompted makers in Bollywood to remake it. The Pati, Patni Aur Woh remake now stars Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday.
