A blast occurred in Parachinar in Kurram Agency on Friday morning, killing at least 5 people while 30 others were reported to be injured. The injured were rushed to the hospital and emergency has been declared in hospitals of the city.
The agency is seen as one of the most sensitive tribal regions. It borders three Afghan provinces and was the key route for cross-border militant activity earlier.
Reportedly, the political administration in Kurram Agency had confirmed the death toll. It said the injured were moved to the Agency Headquarters hospital. At least 10 patients were in a critical state.
As per a report in Geo News, the blast took place early morning around 8:50 AM at Eidgah market. A large number of people were shopping for fruits and vegetables when the explosion happened.
However, this is not the first such incident. At least 25 people were killed and more than 65 were injured when a powerful explosion ripped through a jam-packed market in Parachinar, in January.
