Patna Metro Blue Line: Patna is finally getting close to launching its first metro service. The city’s long-waited dream is almost ready, and if all goes as planned, the new metro train on the Blue Line will start running by August 15, 2025. This part of the metro falls under Corridor II of the Patna Metro Rail Project and covers a distance of 6.49 kilometres, reported Times Property.
It will connect two very important points Patna Junction and the ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal). The route is fully elevated, and it will give passengers a fast and easy way to travel across the city.

Five-Station Stretch Connecting Key City Points
The route will offer connectivity through five elevated metro stations:
- Malahi Pakri
- Khemnichak
- Bhoothnath
- Zero Mile
- ISBT
Each station along this line will have two main levels
one for the concourse and the other for the platform. People will be able to buy tickets, wait for trains, and hear announcements clearly at the concourse level. These areas will also have food and shopping spots. Lifts and escalators will make it easy for everyone to use the station, including elderly people and those with disabilities.
Finishing Touches
The work on this part of the metro is almost done. Officials say that around 90%of all the construction and electrical work is finished. What’s left now are smaller jobs like placing tracks, installing the final electric poles, and doing final touch-ups on the stations.
Recently workers completed placing the U-shaped girders at Khemnichak. At ISBT station, they finished casting the main platform slab. At Bhoothnath station, the roof support structures, called purlins, are also being installed.
Modern Depot at Baririya Chak Spans 76 Acres
A dedicated metro depot at Baririya Chak, close to ISBT, will handle operations, maintenance, and stabling. Spread across 76 acres, the facility includes:
- Two workshop bays
- Three inspection bays
- A testing track
- Eight stabling bays to accommodate 32 three-coach trains
- An automated coach washing unit
- A 2,500 KVA auxiliary substation for power needs
Other built-up infrastructure in the depot area features a training school, an auditorium, a canteen, and an operations control centre.

Station at Khemnichak
One of the most important stations on this line is Khemnichak. This station will work as a main interchange hub between two big metro lines Corridor I, which goes from Danapur to Khemnichak, and Corridor II, which runs from Patna Junction to ISBT. To handle this connection smoothly, Khemnichak station is being built with three levels and will have two different platforms. This will help passengers easily switch from one metro line to another without any confusion or delay.
Funding Pattern Backed by JICA, State and Centre
