In the Maoist ridden Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, people put their lives at stake in order to exercise their right to vote. They were seen in a boat crossing the Indravati river to reach the polling booth. The river is popular for having crocodiles, which further makes the act by the people even more salute-worthy.

Since Chhattisgarh came into existence in 2000, it has seen two Chief Ministers. Ajit Jogi became the Chief Minister for Indian National Congress in 2000. The Current Chief Minister, Raman Singh(a Bhartiya Janta Party member), has been holding the post for last 15 years.
