Once Live Speech has been selected, press the Sleep/Wake button three times to activate it, then input the required sentence. The text will now be read aloud using your Personal Voice.
Apple has consistently worked to enhance existing accessibility features and introduce new ones to assist users worldwide. Live Speech has been an excellent method for users with ALS and other physical health conditions or impairments to communicate with their loved ones through their mobile devices.
It readily reads audibly whatever you type, allowing those with difficulty communicating to have a voice. With the release of Personal Voice, this functionality has been enhanced. iOS 17 introduces Personal Voice, a new accessibility feature that enables you to train and store your voice locally on your iPhone. Let’s examine this new feature and how you can utilise it to your advantage.
Personal Voice Setup and Usage for iOS 17: What is iOS 17’s Personal Voice?
iOS 17’s Personal Voice accessibility feature allows you to record and retain your voice on your device for use with Live Speech. Personal Voice operates by analysing 15 minutes of your recorded voice using machine learning. This is then used to generate your voice, which can then read out any text you type using Live Speech in applications that support it.
Certain medical conditions can cause gradual voice loss. Personal Voice allows you to store your voice on your device, making it simpler for users with such medical conditions to communicate with family and friends. When using Personal Voice, all recorded information is stored and processed locally on the device. This assures the highest level of privacy while facilitating the use of your voice with Live Speech.
