Police are on high alert ahead of Durga Puja in Bhubaneswar

Durga Puja in Bhubaneswar: During the imminent Durga Puja in the capital city, the Commissionerate Police are fully prepared to combat crime. The Khandagiri Police recently apprehended five members of an inter-district cell of robbers as part of a special operation. At least two bicycles and several bladed weapons, such as swords, knives, and daggers, have been confiscated from their custody.

According to reports, one detained member of the notorious gang has as many as 23 pending criminal cases at police stations throughout the State. The gang was on the Nayagarh, Puri, Kendrapara, and Bhubaneswar police departments’ most sought lists.

Murali Behera and Manas Pradhan of Puri, Shankar Dakua of Ganjam, Mantu Paikaray of Bhubaneswar, and Akash Nayak of Nayagarh have been identified as the robbers apprehended, according to Bhubaneswar Zone-3 ACP Pradeep Kumar Rout.

In the meantime, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh has ordered all police stations to apprehend and imprison hardened criminals prior to Dussehra. In addition, Singh has ordered all police officers to increase their patrols in the Capital City prior to the Durga Puja.

The Commissionerate Police has also notified all IICs to take the necessary precautions to ensure that the Capital City is free of crime during Puja. As part of the special campaign, the Commissionerate Police is conducting out midnight raids in the city to nab hardcore criminals. A meticulous plan has been developed to apprehend all of the criminals in the city for whom no bond has been set. Due to the probability of an increase in incidents of theft during Puja, city residents have demanded an increase in patrolling.

“We are completely vigilant for Durga Puja. On the directive of the Commissioner and DCP, we have increased our nighttime patrols. Rout stated, “We are increasing the number of patrol vehicles and personnel to combat crime in the city.”
