Pragya Singh Found Safe:A 29-year-old woman who mysteriously disappeared from a train while returning from the Kedarnath Yatra with her husband has been found safe in Bihar’s Begusarai district after six days, bringing relief to her family and ending a high-profile multi-agency search operation.
The woman, identified as Pragya Singh, had reportedly gone missing from the Nanda Devi Express while travelling from Dehradun to Ghaziabad on May 5.
Police teams reportedly searched railway tracks, nearby areas and several locations along the route. Investigators also examined call records, messages and WhatsApp chats but initially found no suspicious leads. The incident caused family members to experience panic which resulted in the police and railway security along with local officials conducting a thorough investigation.
Pragya Singh Found Safe
Reports show that Pragya Singh traveled with her husband Manish after they finished their pilgrimage to Kedarnath. Her husband told investigators that the couple had been conversing normally until the train crossed Haridwar, after which both reportedly fell asleep due to travel fatigue.
Manish later woke up near Muzaffarnagar station and discovered that Pragya was no longer on her seat. He waited for her return after initially thinking she had gone to the washroom, before he started searching the coach and adjoining compartments.
The railway authorities received word of her disappearance immediately after she could not be found.
The case became more complex because her mobile phone was found switched off which created additional questions about her disappearance. The Roorkee police station received a missing persons report which was filed after the incident.

Investigation
The absence of usable CCTV footage from Roorkee and Muzaffarnagar railway stations represented one of the major investigation obstacles. Reports stated that surveillance cameras at these stations were either malfunctioning or unavailable which made it difficult for investigators to determine whether Pragya voluntarily got off the train or if foul play was involved.
Found Safe in Bihar’s Begusarai
Police received information about Pragya Singh location after studying the case for six days of investigation in Begusarai district of Bihar. A police team reached the location and recovered her safely. Authorities later informed her family about the breakthrough.
Officials are now expected to record her statement to understand the sequence of events and determine how she travelled from the train route to Begusarai. Police are also investigating whether she left voluntarily or if any external pressure or circumstances were involved in the incident.
