Prashant Kishore set to meet JDU president Nitish Kumar over Citizenship Act

PatnaJanata Dal (United) National Vice President Prashant Kishor will meet party president and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today amid growing differences in the party over the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).

Significantly, JDU had supported the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Upper House. After this, the party leaders started questioning the leadership.

JDU National Vice President Prashant Kishore had tweeted that, “JDU’s support for the bill discriminating on the right to citizenship on the basis of religion is disappointing. It does not match the constitution of the party. It does not match the party’s original ideas.”

NRC, Prashant Kishore swung bypolls in Trinamool’s favour

Prashant Kishore on Friday had said that the onus of saving the soul of India lies with the 16 non-BJP Chief Ministers who have to operationalize the newly enacted Citizenship Amendment Act.

After the JD-U supported the Bill, he took to Twitter and said: “Disappointed to see JD-U supporting CAB that discriminates right of citizenship on the basis of religion.

“It’s incongruous with the party’s constitution that carries the word secular thrice on the very first page and the leadership that is supposedly guided by Gandhian ideals.”
