Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity 2023: The third Tuesday of October is annually observed as Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity, which falls on October 17 this year. It is a day to observe silence in remembrance of the children whose voices were cut short due to abortion.
Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity 2023 History
The Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity was initiated by Bryan Kemper in 2004. As per his testimony, a McNeese State University student inquired, “In solidarity with students across the nation, what steps can I take to assist in the abolition of abortion?” A lightbulb went off in Kemper’s mind, and he had the notion to rally students not only to support one another but also to remember the lives that are lost daily to abortion.
Students and other interested parties are encouraged to observe Black Lives Matter by refraining from speaking and donning red duct tape bearing the word “life” in solidarity with children who have had their abortions. To elucidate the purpose of the day while maintaining their silence, participants disseminated flyers that provided an explanation of their stance and the nature of the pro-life day.
When Kemper was speaking at an event and noticed some young people with duct tape over their mouths—supporters of the pro-life organization Bound4LIFE, whom he subsequently identified—the inspiration for the use of duct tape was ignited.
Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity is sponsored by the Bryan Kemper-founded non-profit organization Stand True, which opposes abortion. In the United States, thousands of pupils of all ages observe the day today.
