In an unfortunate incident, at least 11 people were killed after a private bus collided head-on with a truck on the Pune-Hyderabad highway on early Saturday morning. Five others were injured in the dreadful accident that took place near Urali-Kanchan village, 40 km from Pune.
Five women and six men are among the dead.
Soon after the accident, Police and medical team rushed to the location. A rescue operation is under way. The injured have been taken to the nearby private hospitals.
As per preliminary reports, the driver of the bus lost control after an animal appeared in front of the bus. Few residents in Mulund from Mumbai hired the bus for Akkalkot in Solapur district, a pilgrimage in South Maharashtra, as per the reports.
