In a shocking incident, two engineering students were found beaten to death on a remote hill near INS Shivaji in Lonavala on Monday. According to the police, unknown people had stripped the 22-year-old man and his female friend and knotted their hands before hitting on their heads.
A resident of Rahuri in Ahmednagar, the man was a student of mechanical engineering at the Sinhgad Engineering College on the Lonavala campus. Hailing from Otur in Pune, his friend was pursuing a course in computer engineering at the same college. They both were in their final-year students.
As per the college officials, the woman had already secured a job. She would have taken it after completing her course.
A case has been filed against unidentified persons under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code at the Lonavala police station. “The woman had told others at her hostel that she was going out with a friend, and would return home late,” said an officer.
Police found Aadhaar cards and driving licences of the deceased at the spot. They also recovered a motorcycle belonging to the male victim.
