Khanna, Ludhiana: A woman died of depression after she did not receive ‘promised’ funds under Housing Scheme. Family members of the deceased has alleged that the authorities gave the woman an assurance of funds for the new house. But, following the taking down of her house, they refused to give an money.
Sumit, the husband of the deceased told that he had laid the foundation of his house under the Housing Scheme so that he could get a loan of Rs 1.5 lakhs by the government according to the conditions set.
After laying the foundation, he got nothing from the officials except false assurance. Following this, his wife went into depression and was admitted to the Khanna’s civil hospital. She was later referred to Chandigarh Hospital after her condition became critical. She took her final breaths at the hospital.
Ranvir Singh, City Council Executive Officer said that the applicant first has to complete all formalities and once they complete the laying of foundation of their house and upload the photograph on the site after coming to the office, would the entire documents get sent to Chandigarh, as reported by a Hindi News website.
Once the case gets passed to the city council, the Municipal Council deposits 1.5 lacs in three installments of 50 thousand each. Whether or not the case gets passed depends on Chandigarh’s officers.
Close kins of the woman before conducting the final rituals, had placed her body in front of the City Council and performed protests.
