Punjabi brother sister marry each other to get Australian visa

In a shocking case of immigration scam, a bother-sister married each other  so they could con their way to Australia. The pair came under scanner after their cousin filed a police complaint earlier this month.

Reports state that the Punjab police is investigating the case after the complaint was filed alleging the pair had forged a bank account, a passport and other identity documents in the woman’s name.

According to details, the alleged forgery and the marriage registration purportedly took place in the year 2012 in Punjab.

The pair, using the falsified documents and fake passports, then traveled as husband and wife to Australia, where they were granted a spousal visa, The Australian reported.

‘They have cheated the social system, legal system and religious systems, all for the craze, wish and desire to go abroad. We are conducting raids but they are on the run and we have not been able to arrest anyone,’ local Inspector Jai Singh told the paper.

The Australian Department of Home Affairs said that all the documents provided by the pair were thoroughly checked and were also verified with the issuing authority.

However, they conceded they had no control over ‘genuine overseas passports’ which were obtained with fake documents.
