New Delhi: In another blow to Bhartiya Janata Party, Member of Parliament from Rajasthan’s Dausa constituency Harish Chandra Meena has joined the Congress Party in the presence of party leaders Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot, in Delhi.
All India Congress Committee General Secretary Ashok Gehlot and the state president Sachin Pilot welcome his joining and inducted him officially in the party.
Pilot and Gehlot also addressed a press conference and said that they will contest the state assembly elections.
Pilot also said that other senior leaders of the state will also contest the December 7 polls in the state.
This is seen as a major blow to the Bhartiya Janata Party who is fighting the anti-incumbency in the state. Harish joining Congress is considered as a major boost for the party. Meena is a retired IAS officer and MP from Dausa and Congress is eyeing on the southern Rajasthan where Meena is a major dominated caste.
Congress has lost the seat in 2014 election and came third. Harish Chandra Meena won the seat and defeated his elder brother in the Modi wave of 2014.
