A 28 year old Haryana resident was allegedly beaten to death by the mob in Ramgarh, Rajasthan, on suspicion of cow smuggling.

According to reports, the man, identified as Akbar Khan, accompanied by another man, was taking two cows to their village in Haryana through a forest area near Lalawandi in Alwar district on Friday night, when a group of people severely thrashed Khan.

The people suspected that Khan was smuggling cows but the allegation is yet to be verified, said police officials. The other man accompanying Khan however managed to escape.

The victim’s body has been kept in the morgue of a local hospital as the police is investing the matter further.

This is not for the first time that Alwar has witnessed a case related to cow vigilantism. In April 2017, a man, Pehlu Khan was killed by ‘gau rakshaks’ for allegedly smuggling cattle.

The latest incident comes just a day after the issue of mob lynching reverberated in Lok Sabha during the debate on no-confidence motion against the NDA government.
