Rajasthan politics which is witnessing several ups and downs every day in the poll-bound season observed another major political development on October 17. Manvendra Singh, son of BJP leader Jaswant Singh and MLA from Sheo assembly in Barmer joined hands with Congress. Ahead of the upcoming assembly election, Manvendra Singh’s step to join Congress would provide a major blow to BJP, as Singh holds a massive influence in the Rajput community of Rajasthan.

Sheo MLA joined Congress at AICC headquarters in presence of Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and many other senior leaders of the party. Rebel BJP leader, Manvendra Singh parted his ways from the saffron party during a massive rally in Barmer on September 22 and stated that BJP is ignoring Rajput community in Rajasthan.

Singh is planning to contest the Lok Sabha elections 2019 from Barmer and may field his wife from Sheo constituency, reports claimed.

Earlier, Manvendra Singh speaking on the lines of the performance of both Congress and BJP in state stated that,

“Congress will certainly do well because people are looking for a change. There is frustration among various sections of the society and BJP will perform badly in assembly elections”.
