Ram Charan’s Viral Bumrah Comment:Telugu superstar Ram Charan found himself at the centre of social media buzz after accidentally referring to Indian cricket star Jasprit Bumrah as a “footballer” during the promotional event of his upcoming film Peddi in Bhopal. The actor later issued a public apology, calling the incident a “genuine human error.”

What Happened At The Peddi Event?

The incident took place during the grand music launch event of Peddi, attended by several celebrities including A. R. Rahman and Janhvi Kapoor. During a rapid-fire interaction, Ram Charan was asked to describe some of India’s biggest cricket stars in a few words.

While speaking about legends like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the actor gave smooth responses.

When asked about Sachin Tendulkar, the actor called his journey a “long, legendary run”. He described MS Dhoni as “calm and cool, and referred to Rohit Sharma as “everybody’s man.” For Virat Kohli, Ram Charan used just one word: “Fire.” However, when Jasprit Bumrah’s name came up, Ram Charan mistakenly said,Jasprit Bumrah ji, I am your biggest fan. I love football and football ko itne aage bada rahe ho (you are taking football to new heights). Love you, sir,”

The statement immediately went viral because Bumrah is one of India’s leading fast bowlers and has no connection with professional football.

Ram Charan’s Viral Bumrah Comment

Soon after clips from the event began circulating online, Ram Charan addressed the mistake on social media platform X. The actor admitted that he mixed up the sports reference in the excitement of the event and apologised directly to Bumrah.

According to multiple reports, Ram Charan wrote, “Uff… I’m genuinely so forgetful with names sometimes. Apologies to Jasprit Bumrah Ji for the mix-up — it was a genuine human error in the middle of all the excitement and the crowd.”

He further praised Bumrah for making India proud with his performances on the cricket field.

Interestingly, the Bumrah mix-up was not the only awkward moment during the event. Reports also noted that Ram Charan accidentally addressed the Bhopal audience as people from Bihar before being corrected by the host.

The back-to-back errors became one of the biggest talking points from the Peddi promotions online.

Social Media Reacts

The moment quickly sort of turned into meme material across platforms like X and Instagram. Netizens reacted with those jokingly vibes to the mix-up, with a lot of people sharing edited clips and making funny comments about Bumrah suddenly becoming a “football icon”, out of nowhere.

“Ouch. At least it confirms Ram Charan is not a cricket fan. He does not know Rohit is the hit man,” one wrote, with another sharing, “Hilarious”.

“Ram charan bro?? He is hockey player,” one joked. Another post read, “Just #RamCharan things.. forgetting the names. Addressed Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh people as BIHAR People.”

Even with the trolling still rolling in, a handful of fans actually appreciated Ram Charan for addressing the mistake right away, rather than brushing it off, or pretending it didn’t happen. A number of users described the apology as honest and humble.
