Ranchi is one of the four constituencies in Jharkhand to go on polls in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2019 on Monday, May 6. In the 2019 General elections, Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Sanjay Seth. Congress has entrusted Subodh Kant Sahay with the party ticket.
The voting for Jharkhand’s 14 parliamentary seats will take place across the four phases (phase IV, phase V, phase VI, phase VII) of the 2019 General elections on April 29, May 6, May and May 19 respectively.

In Jharkhand, the BJP is in alliance with the All Jharkhand Student’s Union (AJSU) and will contest 13 seats, leaving behind one seat for the regional party.
The Congress got seven seats under Mahagathbandhan, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) four, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) two and Rashtriya Janata Dal one.
In Phase IV of the voting for the 17th Lok Sabha, elections will take place in 71 Lok Sabha constituencies across 9 states. Voting for this phase will take place on April 29. While, like all the other phases, counting will take place on May 23.
The turnout in the last general election in 2014 was more than 66%, up from 45% in 1951 when the first election was held.
