Ranchi Welcomes Women’s Asian Hockey Champions: The much-anticipated Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2023 will begin on October 27, 2023. The Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh AstroTurf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi will be the site of the event. Six teams are ready to fight. They are from India, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Round-robin play means that each of the six teams will play five games. The top four teams will then move on to the playoffs. Chief Minister Hemant Soren is excited about having the Women’s Asia Hockey Championship Trophy, saying that it is a one-of-a-kind chance to improve hockey in the state.

The Chief Minister said, “This historic event has brought famous players to Jharkhand, and the best part is that entry to the championship is completely free, which is making players and fans even more excited.” Savita, the Indian captain, says that this event is an important warm-up for the real challenge, which is getting into the Olympics.

“In tournaments like these, no team can be taken lightly. We are looking forward to these matches as they will help us test our mettle against some of the most formidable teams in Asia. Of course, we want to win every match and perform well here, preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers, which will also be hosted in Ranchi,” said the Indian captain.

Chief Coach Janneke Schopman agreed with the captain and said, “Playing these matches ahead of the Olympics Qualifiers is a great opportunity. It allows us to study the other teams and assess how players perform their assigned roles. Our recent performances in the Asian Games were promising, and I am excited and eager to see our team in action.”

Tomorrow is India’s first game at the event; they will take on Thailand.
