In a shocking incident, a rape victim allegedly committed suicide in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh after a panchayat awarded few slaps as a punishment to the accused. “Sister of the deceased told police that a panchayat was convened wherein the accused were slapped & let-off. After that, the girl went home & committed suicide,” Aligarh SSP Muniraj was quoted as saying by ANI.
According to the police, an FIR has been registered and two youths have been arrested in connection with the case. The UP Police has sent the body for post-mortem and further investigation is going on into the matter.
