Cheteshwar Pujara once again pulled India out of trouble. In India’s first Test match of the 2018 Australian summer, while batting at number three, the Rajkot boy kept his composure. He stringed partnerships with the lower order batsman taking India to a respectable total of 250/9. At one moment the Indian team were tottering at a score of 86/5.

Here we list some of the records held by Pujara which makes him a special Test batsman!

Pujara has batted all five days of a Test match

In the first Test match that took place on Sri Lanka’s tour of India(November 2017), Pujara achieved the rare feat of batting all five days on a Test match. India’s regular choice for number 3 in Tests, Pujara top-scored for the team in the first innings. He scored 52 runs in an innings that was played across three days due to rain. Pujara could only score 22 in the second innings but with that he became only the third Indian to bat on all five days of a Test match!

Besides him from India, only ML Jaisimha and Ravi Shastri have achieved the feat.

He is the second fastest to score 1000 runs for India

In a game where India thumped Australia by an innings and 135 runs, Cheteshwar Pujara scored a match-winning double century. The calm batsman from Saurashtra became the second fastest to touch the 1000 run mark. He reached into 4 digits in his 18th innings. Vinod Kambi, the two-time double century-scorer is the fastest Indian to get to 1000 runs, he did so in just 14 innings.

Batting against Australia, Pujara achieved yet another remarkable feat to his name when he batted for more than 500 balls. Scoring 202 off 525 deliveries Pujara bettered India’s legendary batsman Rahul Dravid who scored 270 runs against Pakistan in a marathon effort that lasted for 495 balls!
