Republic Day Parade 2020: Delhi traffic police issues advisory for rehearsals; find out!

New Delhi: As the Republic Day 2020 is around the corner and in order to facilitate the smooth functioning of the traffic movement in the capital during the rehearsal, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory on January 16.

The Delhi police took to Twitter and issued traffic diversions and alternative routes to be taken by commuters during rehearsals.

The rehearsal for republic day will be held on January 17, 18, 20 and 21 on Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate in the national capital.

The traffic restrictions will be in place at Rafi Marg, Janpath and Mansingh Road from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Meanwhile,  Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate will also remain closed for traffic.

“There will be restrictions on the movement of traffic at Rafi Marg, Janpath and Mansingh Road from 0900 hours to 1200 hours. Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate will also remain closed for traffic,” the police said.

In order to facilitate rehearsals restrictions have been imposed for vehicular movement in the national capital. On the above-mentioned dates, buses from the south side headed for Central Secretariat shall be “curtailed at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Chanakya Puri, Tyag Raj Marg, Krishna Menon Marg, Maulana Azad Road,” the advisory said.

Where to Get Tickets for the Republic Day Parade

The Republic Day Parade tickets are available from January 10th to 25th. Front row passes are available to VIPs.

Locations to get tickets are: India Tourism Development Corporation (IDTC) Travel Counters at Ashok and Janpath Hotels. (Working days only).

Delhi Tourism Development Corporation (DTDC) Counters at Coffee Home, Baba Kharag Singh Marg and Food and Craft Bazar, Dilli Haat, opposite INA Market, and Shri Gandhi Ashram, Chandni Chowk. (Working days only).
Departmental Sale Counters at North Block roundabout, South Block roundabout, Pragati Maidan (Gate No. 1, Bhairon Road), Jantar Mantar (Main Gate), Shastri Bhawan (near Gate No. 1), India Gate (near Jamnagar House), Red Fort. (10 a.m. until 5.30 p.m. daily).

Parliament House Reception Office. (11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday/Sunday/Holiday closed).

Government of India Tourist Office, Janpath. (Closed Sunday).

Republic Day Ticket Prices

Republic Day Parade costs 300 rupees and 150 rupees for reserved seats. 50 rupees and 10 rupees for unreserved seats.

Beating Retreat Ceremony (Full Dress Rehearsal) costs 50 rupees and 20 rupees. All seats are unreserved.
