Hyderabad witnessed a tragic incident as a 76-year-old retired government doctor died from a cardiac arrest following harassment by cyber fraudsters.
The scammers, masquerading as law enforcement officials, coerced the woman into transferring Rs 6.60 lakh to them over a span of three days.
The fraudsters deceived the victim using digital tactics, employing fabricated documents to implicate her in a fictitious human trafficking case. They used official logos and fake documents from credible institutions to exert psychological pressure and panic.
Despite the woman’s passing, the harassment continued unabated, triggering the family to report the crime, leading to an investigation under the IT Act. Hyderabad Police have since issued an advisory, urging the public to remain vigilant against digital frauds and to never share sensitive information through calls.
