Adding another feather to India’s hat, Indian wrestler Ritu Phogat on Friday won the bronze medal against Sun Yanan of China. Yanan pulled out of the match after she was injured in the 48kg women’s wrestling category of the Asian Wrestling Championship being held here in the national capital.
However, Phogat earlier on Friday lost to Yui Sasaki of Japan 9-0 in the semifinal and couldn’t participate in the match for the gold medal. Notably, Yanan had beaten Irina Borissova of Kazakhstan in the deciding round by technical superiority of 10-0.
Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik are also in battle for medals. Both of them will be contending for the gold medal in their respective matches in 55kg and 60kg category.
