The Supreme Court on Friday declined an urgent hearing of a PIL seeking to restrain AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala from taking oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

The top court declined its hearing till its decision in the Jayalalithaa disproportionate assets case.

The apex court is set to pronounce its verdict in the corruption case against former Tamil Nadu chief minister  J Jayalalithaa, in which Sasikala is also co-accused, in less than a week.

In 2014, a special court in Bengaluru had found Jayalalithaa guilty and sentenced her to four years imprisonment along with three other co-accused, including Sasikala.

The Tamil Nadu politics had take an interesting turn as O Panneerselvam had revolted against the AIADMK chief’s claim for the CM position.

On Thursday, Sasikala had visited the Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao and handed the list of supporting MLAs to him.

Caretaker CM O Panneerselvam had also met the governor on Thursday and “apprise” him of the prevailing situation in Tamil Nadu.
