Chandigarh: Four children were killed after a school bus with 12 students onboard caught fire at Longowal town in Sangrur district in Punjab on Saturday, the police said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that a police team has been sent to the accident spot. Details are awaited.
Sangrur civil hospital authorities have deputed a team of doctors to provide treatment to the injured.
Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann and Sunam’s Aam Aadmi Party Member of Legislative Assembly Aman Arora have reached the accident site.
Meanwhile, angry residents have refused to allow the district administration to remove the bodies from the school van.
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
