School Holidays October 2025: October 2025 is going to be a festive filled month in India. Schools and colleges will get multiple holidays, giving students a much-needed break. People across the country will celebrate Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja, among other special days. As the monsoon ends and the weather becomes pleasant, communities come together to enjoy these festivals. Families will have time to meet, share meals, and celebrate traditions.
Parents, students, and teachers should remember that exact holiday dates may change depending on the state. Local school authorities usually send circulars to confirm the exact days schools will close.

Important Holidays this Month
The month begins with Mahanavami on October 1, followed by Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. Schools will be closed on these days, so students can enjoy the festivals and spend time with family. Then on October 7, schools will also shut for Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, a day to remember the great sage who wrote the Ramayana.
In the middle of October, Diwali, one of the biggest festivals in India, will be celebrated. The main Diwali holidays include Naraka Chaturdashi, Diwali, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj. Schools will probably stay closed from October 18 to 23, but the exact dates can be a little different in each state. Every region has its own way of celebrating, so some schools might have slightly different holiday schedules
Chhath Puja will be celebrated on October 27-28, mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern India. Students in these areas will get a short holiday to join the celebrations. The festival is all about fasting, praying, and showing devotion to the Sun God.
