Madhubani: A self-proclaimed godman from Bihar was arrested on Tuesday for raping two sister’s hailing from Ludhiana for over 8 years at his ashrams in Punjab and Bihar.
The accused godman Manmohan Saheb is connected with International Kabir Forum from Madhubani district. The accused was nabbed by the police when he was trying to flee from Nepal border. The police have taken over his passports and documents.
Supaul SP Mrityunjay Kumar Chaudhary said, “Saheb has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.” he added, “Police are interrogating other women disciples at Supaul and Madhubani ashrams if they were sexually exploited by him”.
The two sisters who hail from Ludhiana lives with their parents. They first met the godman when they had come to Madhubani to attend a religious gathering and when they went to his ashram in Saupaul, he raped the younger sister and also made a video of the act to blackmail her.
This was not the end, when the godman visited Ludhiana he continued to sexually exploit and blackmail the younger sister. As per the complaint, the godman also raped the elder sister in 2016.
“It took about a decade for us to raise voice against the man who can go to any extent to eliminate anyone who speaks against him… It is better to die than lead such a disgraceful life,” read the police complaint.
The godman is said to be very influential and powerful as he belongs to politics also. The victim made a complaint against Saheb to the President, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), chief minister, Bihar director general of police, and National Commission for Women on January 21.
“Several politicians have been his disciples in Madhubani, Supaul and Nepal. He was planning to contest election this year,” the SP said.
The sister has said in a statement that conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim in rape cases gave them the courage to file the police complaint.
This is not the first time that any godman has indulged in such an act. Earlier also godman like Ram Rahim and Dati Maharaj has been booked in rape cases.
