Shimla-Kalka Route train: Travelers between Shimla and Kalka may soon get a big upgrade in their journey experience. Indian Railways is planning to run air-conditioned trains on this famous mountain route. These AC coaches will give passengers a much more relaxed and modern ride, especially during changing weather in the hills.
During a recent visit, Northern Railways General Manager Ashok Verma checked the new AC coaches himself. He found a few things that were not working well and told the engineers to fix them quickly so that everything is ready for passengers.

Problems Found During Inspection
Ashok Verma saw that the cooling system inside the coaches wasn’t working as expected. The temperature was staying above 25 degrees Celsius, which is not cool enough for an AC coach. The air ducts were also partly blocked, so cold air was not moving around properly.
Some poor quality materials used in the air ducts made things worse. One serious issue was the lack of an emergency window-opening system, which is important for safety. He asked the engineering team to take care of all these problems without delay.
New Features
Even with these issues, the AC coaches come with many new features that passengers will enjoy. These trains will have 360 degree CCTV cameras to keep people safe, and special anti-UV glass on the windows to protect from strong sunlight. according to Jagran, there will be bright LED lights and power windows inside, and a heating and cooling system will help with the cold mornings and warm afternoons that are common in the hills. There’s also a fire alert system to make sure passengers stay safe.

The new trains are not running yet, but once the repairs and updates are done, they will start on the Shimla-Kalka route.
Railway officials said the new ticket prices will be shared after everything is ready, but there may be a small price increase because of all the added features. Still, tourists and daily travelers will get a better and safer ride through the beautiful hills, which will make the extra cost worth it.
