Sony PS5 Pro in India: The PlayStation 5 Pro won’t be launching in India and other countries where the 6GHz band needed for Wi-Fi 7 hasn’t been approved. Sony India confirmed that due to regulatory restrictions on the 6GHz band, the PS5 Pro will not be available in these regions. This means that while the PS5 Pro offers advanced features like Wi-Fi 7, it won’t be able to take full advantage of them in countries with these restrictions.
Sony’s official statement read:
“PS5 Pro will not be available in some countries (which currently include India) where the 6GHz wireless band used in IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) has not yet been allowed.”
For Indian gamers excited to experience the latest advancements in Sony’s console lineup, this news comes as a major disappointment. The PS5 Pro, designed to deliver enhanced visuals and immersive gameplay, depends on Wi-Fi 7’s advanced connectivity for optimal performance.

Wi-Fi 7 will make gaming better by providing faster speeds, lower delays, and better streaming quality. This is important for devices like the PS5 Pro, which needs strong internet connections for smooth gaming, fast downloads, and clear streaming.
Wi-Fi 7 uses the 6GHz band, which is already allowed in places like the U.S., the European Union, and parts of East Asia. But in India, according to ABP live, the government has not yet approved this band for use. This means that in India, people might not be able to use all the benefits of Wi-Fi 7 right away.
The deployment of devices that depend on this connectivity standard is impacted by this regulatory gap.
Therefore, until the 6GHz band is approved for use domestically, Indian gamers may experience delays while Wi-Fi 7-enabled devices, such as the PS5 Pro, advance in other markets.
