Srirangapatna Dasara festival: The Srirangapatna Dasara festival is going to take place for four days this year from September 25 to 28. The Mandya district team already started the planning. District in-charge Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy told officers in a meeting that the celebrations must look colorful and also connect with people of every age. He said that the main Dasara procession will begin on September 25 at 3 p.m. and the main stage programs will be arranged in front of the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy temple.
The Minister wanted the events to bring out the real heritage and traditions of the area. He asked the officers to allow local talent first in the stage shows and the grand procession so that people of the region can show their culture.

Srirangapatna MLA Ramesh Bandisiddegowda also gave some new ideas. He suggested that along with the normal contests like the cow milking competition, there should also be a cattle exhibition. He said prizes must go to those who take part in these events. Ramesh Bandisiddegowda also wanted “Yoga Dasara” to have both yoga shows and yoga competitions. He said schools and colleges must join through the Education Department so that more students can take part, reported The Hindu.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar explained that different small committees are already working on arrangements. These committees will look after things like the welcome, sports, procession, health, decoration of the city, finance, cleanliness, food, food festival, exhibitions, and cultural shows.
He said that half of the exhibition stalls will be given for a food festival and there people can taste special dishes from many districts. He also added that a big cleaning drive will happen at Kirangur Bannimantap, the starting point of the Dasara procession.

The meeting had many important people including Mandya City Municipal Council president M.V. Prakash, Zilla Panchayat CEO K.R. Nandini, Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi and other senior officers. Everyone shared their views to make the event successful.
