Since May 1997 or earlier, SSDI recipients can anticipate receiving their monthly payment on the third of that month.
The exceptions do exist. In the event that the third day of the given month coincides with a weekend or holiday, your payment will be processed on the subsequent business day. For instance, certain SSDI recipients received their payments two days early, on March 1, because March 3 fell on a weekend.
Everyone else’s schedule is contingent upon their birthday.
SSDI recipients who ceased receiving benefits before 1997 are subject to the same payment schedule as Social Security. Describe how it operates:
- Your payment will be issued on the second Wednesday of each month if your birthday occurs between the first and tenth of that month.
- Your payment will be issued on the third Wednesday of each month if your birthday occurs between the 11th and 20th.
- The payment for birthdays occurring on or before the 31st of each month will be processed and delivered on the fourth Wednesday of that month.
