The Income Tax Department has issued a notice to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and has asked for details on the amount of money spent at Lalu Prasad’s mega anti-BJP rally in Patna on 27 August. The I-T department has asked RJD to explain the source of money that was spent on organising the ‘BJP Bhagao, Desh Bachao’ rally.

Political heavyweights like West Bengal CM, Mamata Banerjee and former UP CM and Samajwadi Party chief, Akhilesh Yadav had shared the stage with Lalu Prasad. They had claimed that the rally was a success.

Tejashvi Yadav had claimed that over 30 lakh people had attended the rally.

Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, vice-president, Rahul Gandhi and BSP chief Mayawati did not share the stage with Lalu Yadav. At the rally, Lalu dared Amit Shah and PM Modi to act against him and his family. He also said that he would rather hang than reach a compromise with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“I will neither bow before fascist and communal forces like the BJP, nor stop our fight against them till their defeat in the next General Elections. I will get hanged but won’t compromise with the BJP,” Lalu had said at the rally.

Lalu also accused Bihar CM Nitish Kumar of betraying the mandate of the public, breaking the mahagathbandhan and joining hands with BJP to form a government in Bihar.
