'Mother of Telangana' Sonia says Congress paid price for creating new state

Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leaders’ exodus to Congress in Medchal is all set to place under the leadership of Former Congress Chief and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Friday in a grand show. The major opposition party Congress is leaving no stone unturned to make the grand show a spectacle of its popularity and the ruling TRS’s declining political fortunes will witness another setback during the rally of Sonia Gandhi.

As per the proposed plan, Sonia Gandhi will reach Begumpet airport at 05:00 pm on November 23 and will reach Medchal via road, which is around 40 KMs from Hyderabad. Sonia Gandhi’s rally will be telecasted in all the 119 constituencies of Telangana and around 5,000 spectators will be viewing the live telecast of the grand show at every constituency.

The significance of Medchal Rally

Top TRS leaders along with thousands of supporters will join Congress in presence of Sonia Gandhi. It is heard that several ruling party’s (TRS) leaders are quite unhappy with the KCR’s working because of the undue importance being given to outsiders. Senior TRS leaders are feeling sidelined for sometimes and have been planning to make this step for many days, sources claimed.

Sonia Gandhi is expected to be banking on the issue of caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), where he had promised to join hands with the Congress if a separate state was granted, but backstabbed the Congress just before 2014 polls. It is a fact that, it was under Sonia’s leadership that the Congress-led Union Government had agreed for creating a separate state of Telangana.

Several Big leaders likely to join Congress during the Grand show

As per the AICC sources, former MP Konda Vishweswar Reddy will join Congress on November 23. Apart from him MP Sitaram Naik, MLC Yadava Reddy, and senior TRS leader from Chevella, Challa Madhava Reddy might join the Congress in presence of Sonia Gandhi.

Political analysts claim that there could be a major blow on the party image if these leaders leave the TRS and other factors including anti-incumbency are also evident in the state against TRS.

In view of providing a boost to the Congress-led grand alliance of Telangana including Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and Communist Party of India (CPI), Sonia Gandhi appearance is also expected to boost the morale of grand alliance.

Polling is scheduled for December 7 in Telangana and results will be declared on December 11.
